Biography
Jone Gjerde currently holds the position as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in the leading aquaculture technology supplier - AKVA group ASA.
He holds an education as industrial automation engineer, and has been involved in product development for more than 30 years of his professional life.
His previous assignments are amongst other as Vice President R&D at industrial equipment manufacturer ABB AS - Robotics, and healthcare solutions manufacturer Laerdal Medical AS, and he has a long track record with international business relations.
During his career he has been involved in the development of computer systems, robotics, machinery and instruments, and his current interest is related to how to best apply automation machinery and computer systems to the fish farming industry.
Abstract
Technology related to the feeding operation of fish farms has developed strongly during the last years. Farmers are focusing hard on obtaining the optimal feeding regime to maximize fish growth and minimize feed waste, and many farms are moving to remotely controlled operations. The speech will give an overview of the state-of-the-art technology used in modern fish farming today.
