Abstract
A Code of Conduct is a set of principles and expectations based on a voluntary compliance adopted by a particular group. It is a theoretical background to achieve a set of particular objectives. In the case of aquaculture production, the goal is sustainability from different points of view:
- Environmental impact reduction
- Improvement of farm productivity
- Product quality
- Animal health and welfare
- Food safety
- Socioeconomics
On the other hand, Best (or Better, or Good) Aquaculture Practices (also called Code of Practices) would be more practical documents including concrete actions for concrete goals. A Code of Conduct is a declaration of purposes and a Code of Practices is an account of proceedings.
