Biography
Executive Director of the European Aquaculture Society (EAS),
Oostende, Belgium.
EAS is an International Non-Profit Association that brings together 500 members from 45 countries for the development of sustainable aquaculture.
Alistair Lane has been the Executive Director of EAS since 2000. After graduating with an MSc. in Marine Biology, he worked in the aquaculture feeds business for 10 years in UK, France and Spain, with responsibilities in distribution, marketing and general management.
He has a special interest in aquaculture networks and has been involved in several European initiatives related to sustainable aquaculture development, notably the CONSENSUS initiative that has defined indicators and provided balanced information to European consumer organisations.
He has participated as an expert in several European Parliament Hearings on aquaculture and is a project evaluator for the European Commission and the Research Council of Norway.
