Technical visits

The global aquaculture industry continues to be the fastest growing animal-food-producing sector, accounting for around half of all fish consumed in the world today. During the two-and-a-half day Offshore Mariculture Mexico Conference, there will be ample networking opportunities including a Welcome Reception and Conference Dinner. The conference will culminate in several technical visits spread over one and a half days, including visits to hatcheries, research laboratories, processing plants and offshore farms.

Thursday 9th March – Afternoon visits to Pycmar processing facility & UABC facility (University of Baja California)*

Friday 10th March – Choice of two technical visits - sea trip* / land trip*

  • Option 1 (Sea trip) – Boat tour to offshore facilities: Pacifico Aquaculture Striped bass, Baja Aquafarms Tuna, Oceanica Mussels and Oysters.
  • Option 2 (Land trip) – Land tour to Ocean Baja Labs Yellow Tail Hatchery where participants will be able to view the different stages of the fish culture process. Then participants will travel to the Abulones Cultivados Abalone farm. It is not recommended that those wishing to fly home on this day take part on this trip as we are not expected to return to Ensenada until at least 5pm.
