Explore offshore mariculture opportunities in The Americas

The global aquaculture industry continues to be the fastest growing animal-food-producing sector, accounting for around half of all fish consumed in the world today. Offshore Mariculture Mexico, is building on the success of its European sister events, and has secured support from both the Mexican National and Baja Regional Governments via their aquaculture departments – Inapesca, Sepesca and Conapesca.

This two and half day international technical conference will examine the progress and prospects for farming offshore and will focus on the Americas, including  the latest technical advances and investment opportunities which effect the day to day running and profitability of the offshore farming business.

Following input from the Conference Advisory Board, the call for papers for the 2017 Conference have been finalised and companies, organisations and individuals are invited to put forward papers in the following categories: 

  • Recent developments in marine aquaculture
  • Successes and opportunities for Mexican Aquaculture:
    Studies of fin fish and alternative species (such as bivalves and abalone) currently being farmed in Mexico - Marine fin fish (striped bass, yellowtail etc), Molluscs (mussels, oysters and abalone), Macro algae, Integration with seaweed
    Marine species being farmed elsewhere representing an opportunity for the Mexican industry
  • Research at the breeding / hatchery level 
  • Market opportunities for Mexican fish and seafood produced through mariculture:
    Case studies from distributors, importers, wholesalers
    Emphasis on the value-added aspects of the supply chain and revenue generated in this sector
  • Investment in the offshore mariculture industry:
    What do investors look for?
  • The latest in offshore technology: 
  • Feed – tradition vs change
  • How disease can affect your business

Abstracts using case and “real life” studies will be given precedence. 

Abstracts should be no more than 200 words and should be sent, with a biography of the speaker, headshot photo and logo, to by 17th November 2016 at the latest.
