Dubrovnik - UNESCO Heritage Site
Every street and structure in the Old Town area can tell a story of its long history.
Dubrovnik - endless sightseeing opportunities!
Often described as the 'Pearl of the Adriatic', the fantastic city of Dubrovnik is a World Heritage Site. A programme of events will be available for partners of attendees wanting to visit this fantastic city and special rates have been agreed for delegates staying at the Hilton Imperial Hotel. The rates will also be available to those wishing to stay on to see the many wonderful sites Dubrovnik has to offer.
The Hilton Imperial is located in the immediate vicinity of the Old Town, about a minute on foot from Pile Gate. Pile Gate is one of the entrances to the pedestrian area, encircled by City Walls. Ancient dwellinigs and structures of different kind, museums and art galleries, make the Old Town a historical centre. Restaurants, bars and clubs, shops, venues for different events and performances, make it a social centre as well. Cars and buses are not allowed in the Old Town, but every location can be reached on foot in a short time. Given the circumstances, individual exploration of entire area within the City Walls can be simple and easy.
Although every street and structure in the Old Town area can tell a story of its long history, because of their monumental nature or artistic values, following sights keep attracting the greatest attention:
- Cathedral
- Rector's Palace (with Historical and Cultural Museum)
- Franciscan monastery (church, cloister and the museum)
- Dominican monastery (church and the museum)
- Church of St. Blaise
- Sponza Palace
City Walls are Dubrovnik's largest historical attraction (1920 meters long). They keep the original medieval shape and make the Old Town a special and unique monument as whole.
Three entrances to the City Walls can be found within a short walking distance from Hilton Imperial. A walk on top of the ramparts and towers, offers unique perspective to the Old Town area from various angles and hights. Each entrance can also serve as an exit for those who might want to walk only half or about two thirds of their length.
The proximity of historical monuments both to Hilton Imperial and to each other, makes them easily accessible. Finding directions within the most interesting part of Dubrovnik is simple and does not require any guidance. Professional guidance might be recommendable to visitors with more profound interest in historical and cultural backgroung of visited areas, backgroung that can be depicted by facts and stories from more than a 1000 years long history.
Hilton Imperial has a long-term cooperation with several formally educated, experienced and by all means professional guides. They are able to meet our guests in the hotel's lobby area at any specified time. Guides are usually needed for private tours in duration of between 1,5 and 2 hours. The standard and generally recommendable up to 2 hours long walking tour within the Old Town area, is charged 500 HRK (about 195 USD). The rate is a total cost for up to several persons and does not include entrance fees for optional visits to varios museums or City Walls. It can be settled by direct cash payment to the guide either in Croatian or any convertible foreign currency (USD, EUR, GBP). Longer and more specialised tours can be arranged as well, sometimes directly with the guide during the initial sightseeing.
